Cuernos del Paine

Cuernos del Paine (“Horns of Paine”) are huge granite peaks at the cores of Torres del Paine National Park. At the southern end of the Andean Cordillera, the most impressive view of the Cuernos is looking due north from Lake Pehoe. Granite is a tricky rock to photograph as in most light it tends to appear matt grey. About half an hour before sunrise on Christmas Eve, the midsummer sun was lighting orographic clouds, which in turn reflected subtle colours onto the peaks.
