Lover’s Loop, Savernake Forest

Lover’s Loop, an ancient beech tree captured on my Savernake Forest in Autumn Photography Tour. This tree was pollarded in its youth, resulting in several main branches at the same height and a spreading habit. The weight of one of the branches has pulled it down almost to the ground, from where two more slender branches have bifurcated forming a heart-shaped frame for the main trunk.
